TEXAS BORDER COALITION ENDORSES REYES PORTS BILL TO STRENGTHEN PORTS OF ENTRY

Today, the Texas Border Coalition endorsed a bill authored by Congressman Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) that would dramatically improve security at America's 42 land ports of entry.  The organization's endorsement of Reyes' PORTS (Putting Our Resources Toward Security) Act was included in a new white paper unveiled by the coalition in Laredo, Texas. "I am pleased to receive the support of the Texas Border Coalition for my legislation," Congressman Reyes said.  “While we have come a long way to improve security in the areas between our ports of entry, the next problem we must address is the inadequate staffing and outdated infrastructure at America's land ports.  This bill provides our federal law enforcement agencies with the tools and resources they need to effectively combat the flow of drugs, money, and weapons that are illegally transported between the United States and Mexico.  This legislation will not only make our border more secure, it will also enhance the...
